Tashkent and Chinese Xi’an connect the aircraft bridge

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 27 September 2019, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to China Bakhtiyor Saidov in Xi’an (the administrative center of Shaanxi province) took part in the celebrations on the occasion of the first charter flight “Xi’an - Tashkent - Xi’an”, organized by the Embassy together with Chinese airline Zhejiang long Airlines Co. Ltd.

The event was attended by the leadership of the People’s Government of Shaanxi and Xi’an, the public of the city, representatives of the airline and airport “Western Airport Group”, as well as the media.

The ambassador spoke in detail about the ongoing reforms in the tourism industry in Uzbekistan. In this context, he drew the attention of the participants to the importance of the document signed by the President of Uzbekistan on 12 September on establishing a visa-free regime of entry into Uzbekistan for Chinese citizens on 1 January  2020, which will further strengthen bilateral cultural, scientific, educational exchanges, as well as improve investment cooperation and the development of tourism potential of the country.

Chairman of the Board of Directors, Zhejiang long Airlines Co. Ltd Liu Qihong in his speech noted that the rich and unique cultural heritage, world-famous historical cities of Uzbekistan - Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, Tashkent - are very popular among Chinese travelers and have always attracted their attention. He added that recently an annual increase in the flow of tourists in the Uzbek direction is planned.

According to the information of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in China, the participants of the event expressed confidence that this charter flight will open a new page in the development of tourist, cultural and humanitarian relations between the two countries and will allow business circles to implement joint investment projects.
