Tashkent Accounted for Nearly One-Fifth of Uzbekistan’s GDP in the First Half of 2025
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The National Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics has released preliminary estimates of gross regional product (GRP) for the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the country’s regions, and the city of Tashkent for January–June 2025.
According to the results, Tashkent made the largest contribution to the country’s GDP, accounting for 19.6 percent of the total. It was followed by Tashkent Region with a 9.6 percent share and Navoi Region with 8.4 percent.
The smallest contributions came from Syrdarya Region (1.9 percent), Jizzakh Region (2.7 percent), and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (2.8 percent).
In terms of sectoral structure, Surkhandarya Region (36.0 percent) and Jizzakh Region (31.4 percent) recorded the highest shares of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries in their GRP.
Navoi Region (75.8 percent) and Tashkent Region (44.5 percent) led in industry. In construction, the highest shares were reported in Bukhara Region and Tashkent, each at 10.8 percent. In services, Tashkent (63.0 percent) and Karakalpakstan (55.3 percent) were in the lead.
Navoi Region reported the highest per capita GRP, reaching 61.8 million soums at current prices. Tashkent ranked second with 50.6 million soums, followed by Tashkent Region with 24.9 million soums.
The share of small businesses in the country’s GDP stood at 49.6 percent. At the regional level, the highest contribution from small enterprises was observed in Surkhandarya Region (76.3 percent of the region’s gross value added), Bukhara (70.5 percent), Namangan (70.1 percent), and Fergana (70.0 percent). The lowest shares were recorded in Navoi Region (21.2 percent) and Tashkent (49.9 percent).
