Tanzila Narbayeva Discusses Strengthening Gender Equality in Uzbekistan with UN Women
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, held a meeting with Belen Sans Luke, Regional Director of UN Women for Europe and Central Asia, to discuss Uzbekistan’s cooperation with the organization and next steps in promoting gender equality.
The parties highlighted the country’s extensive reforms aimed at protecting women’s rights, discussed measures to increase women’s participation in the judicial and legal spheres, and considered support for organizations and agencies promoting equal rights and opportunities.
The opening of the UN Women office in Tashkent was highly praised as an important step toward expanding joint projects and strengthening partnership.
Additionally, the discussion covered Uzbekistan’s participation in the 70th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women and cooperation within the Central Asian Women Leaders Dialogue.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation and implementing initiatives to support women and advance gender equality.
