It was noted that over the past period since 1945, when the UN was created, the organization became a universal international structure, which plays a central role in maintaining peace and security, ensuring stable progress, protecting and promoting human rights. Uzbekistan fully supports the vigorous actions of the Secretary-General Antoni Gutterisch aimed at reforming the UN based on modern requirements. Currently, the organization is faced with urgent tasks of crucial importance for all of humanity. Among them are resolving various conflicts, countering international terrorism and extremism, eliminating the effects of climate change, preventing the spread of a pandemic, and ensuring stable socio-economic progress.

The forum praised the active actions of Uzbekistan and the UN. It was noted that much is being done in conjunction with the relevant ministries and departments of Uzbekistan in various fields, in particular in the fields of education, health, environmental protection, and poverty reduction.

Along with this, during the event, the UN Secretary General also received congratulations on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of this organization. It was noted that the UN Charter adopted 75 years ago became a solid foundation for establishing a world order, defined the advanced principles of international cooperation to solve global problems of peace and security, sustainable development and human rights.

It was also noted that Uzbekistan is steadily advancing towards the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The priority areas of the Strategy of Actions implemented in the country for 2017-2021 are fully consistent with the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Chairman of the Senate Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva spoke at the forum and congratulated on the anniversary of the adoption of the Charter of the United Nations, and also stressed the importance of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in the framework of cooperation between the UN and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

“In Uzbekistan, to fulfill the 17 goals in the field of sustainable development approved by the UN, 169 tasks and 206 national indicators have been identified,” said Senate Chairwoman T. Narbaeva. “They covered 84% of the development strategies and programs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and were the main criterion for the formation of socio-economic projects and laws. In order to successfully implement national goals and objectives, a Coordinating Council has been formed, headed by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The corresponding Roadmap adopted by the Government is being consistently implemented.

At the initiative of the head of state, a Parliamentary Commission was established to monitor the implementation of the National Goals and Tasks in the Field of Sustainable Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the period up to 2030. One of its main tasks is to increase the effectiveness of the executive branch in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring the fulfillment of these goals in each region. I am sure that together with the UN and all its specialized agencies we will certainly fulfill the plans that we have outlined within the framework of the National Sustainable Development Goals and Tasks. Because the population of our country is interested in the activities of the UN, it attaches great importance to every initiative of the UN Secretary General, Mr. Antonio Guterres.
