Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 16 November  2019, a meeting was held in the khokimiyat of Samarkand region with the participation of Senate Chairman Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva on the activities of the regional territorial commission on combating human trafficking and forced labor. The meeting was attended by the Khokim of the region Erkinjon Turdimov, members of the Senate, representatives of the regional territorial commission.

It was noted that in the country the issue of combating trafficking in persons and forced labor was raised to the level of state policy.

In the reporting period, individual preventive work was carried out with 273 citizens deported from foreign countries for various reasons; together with members of the commission, measures were taken to solve all their problems. The ways of their departure abroad, the reasons for their deportation were studied.

Assistance was also provided to 34 victims of human trafficking, who were sent to the republican rehabilitation center for protection.

At the meeting, it was separately stated that in the region it is necessary to strengthen criminal investigations to prevent trafficking in persons.
