Tanzila Narbaeva Holds High-Level Meetings with Parliamentary Leaders and International Organizations in Geneva
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbaeva, held a series of meetings in Geneva with leaders of foreign parliaments and representatives of major international organizations on the sidelines of the 15th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament, organized under the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
During her discussion with Sofia Calltorp, Head of the Geneva Office of UN Women, it was noted that the reforms underway in Uzbekistan to promote women’s rights and achieve gender equality have drawn significant international attention. Special emphasis was placed on systemic work in education, employment, and combating domestic violence, as well as the activities of the Educational Center for Afghan Women in Termez.
Narbaeva also met with President of the Bundesrat of Germany Anke Rehlinger, Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore Seah Kian Peng, Deputy Speaker of Hungary’s National Assembly János Latorcai, and Chairman of the Mazhilis of Kazakhstan Yerlan Koshanov.
The sides discussed opportunities for sharing experience in political, economic, and humanitarian spheres, advancing joint initiatives, and strengthening the work of parliamentary friendship groups.
It was underlined that reciprocal official visits of German and Hungarian parliamentarians are on the near-term agenda. With Singapore, agreements were reached to expand cooperation in public administration modernization, digitalization, and anti-corruption efforts. The meeting with the Kazakh delegation focused on enhancing regional stability and developing strategic partnership.
