Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As previously reported, a delegation of Uzbekistan, led by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanziliy Narbaeva, took part in the high-level meeting “The Future of the Youth Sphere: Strategic Partnership in the Field of Youth Employment” in New York, organized on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. The event was organized with the participation of the International Labor Organization.

Tanzila Narbaeva made a presentation on the topic: “How can public-private partnerships support youth employment programs? What is the role of government, workers and employers in this? ”

Speaking at the international forum, the head of the Senate noted that today Uzbekistan is going through a process of large-scale transformations and reforms in all spheres of life within the framework of the Development Strategy of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021. The goal of fundamental transformations is the development of a democratic state and a just society, in which the main priority is the realization of the rights of people, including labor rights. Moreover, special attention is paid to the consistent increase in decent employment and real incomes of the population.

It was emphasized that despite steady economic growth, the creation of new sustainable jobs, ensuring employment of the population, primarily women and youth, and the wide involvement of citizens in entrepreneurial activity remain the main priorities for Uzbekistan. Annually, more than 500 thousand young people enter adulthood and need employment.

So, on 30 June, starting in 2017, Uzbekistan is celebrated as a national holiday - Youth Day, which reflects the great attention of the state to the problems of the country’s youth. The country has adopted a number of state programs and regulations governing youth employment. Among them is the unique State Program “Yoshlar - Kelajagimiz” (“Youth is Our Future”), adopted on the initiative of the Head of State in June 2018. It is aimed at ensuring youth employment by facilitating and supporting the implementation of youth business initiatives, startups, ideas and projects, training unemployed youth in relevant professions and business skills, increasing their socio-economic activity in general, and also using the potential of state institutions, including employment service.

In addition, for the first time this year, a mechanism for the state order for quoting new jobs, introduced by the relevant resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated March 5, 2019, was introduced on the labor market. In accordance with the document, in 2019, it is planned to create 370 thousand jobs and provide employment for 182 thousand people in seasonal and temporary jobs.

The ultimate goal of all work with young people is to reveal their intellectual and creative potential, increase their civic responsibility and sense of ownership in ongoing social, economic, political and legal reforms.

In her speech, the President of the Senate also elaborated on the international cooperation in the field of employment carried out by Uzbekistan, as well as on the results of the ratification of a number of international documents in the field of labor and employment. The visit of the delegation of Uzbekistan to New York continues.
