Tajikistan–Uzbekistan: Strengthening Border Security Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 5 November 2025, the Tajik-Uzbek Interdepartmental Coordinating Working Group and the meeting of border region law enforcement heads were held at the Hotel Complex of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The event was attended by First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan, Colonel General of Police Abdurakhmon Alamshozoda, and First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs — Head of the Operational-Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan, Colonel Ayubkhon Toshkhudjaevich Rakhmatullaev.
During the meeting, the sides discussed cooperation between the interior ministries of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in combating general criminal offenses and investigative operations, the current state of joint efforts to counter extremism and terrorism, as well as promising areas for further bilateral cooperation.
Particular attention was given to strengthening coordination between the two ministries in combating the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their precursors, as well as organizing joint cultural and sports events among the border divisions of the Ministries of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
