Tajikistan Appoints New Ambassador to Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — By decree of Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon, a new head of the country’s diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan has been appointed.
Nasreddin Ismatullo, formerly serving as the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, has assumed the post of ambassador.
He succeeds Abdujabbor Rahmonzoda, who held the position since May 2021 and was relieved of his duties by presidential decision.
Ismatullo’s appointment is seen as a step toward further strengthening Tajik-Uzbek relations, which in recent years have shown steady positive dynamics—from expanded political dialogue to growing economic cooperation and cross-border projects.
The new ambassador is expected to focus on developing strategic partnership between the two countries, deepening humanitarian ties, and promoting joint initiatives within the Central Asian region.
