Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 21 July 2020, the chambers of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Center for Human Rights, the UN Permanent Mission in Uzbekistan organized a second global discussion on the topic “Sustainable Development Goals and sustainable development of society: effective recovery from COVID-19 ", dedicated to culture, health and labor issues at the international online forum" UN 75th Anniversary: A Look into the Future ".
The event, which was held in the form of videoconferencing, was attended by members of the Senate and deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, heads of the ministries of foreign affairs, health, culture, employment and labor relations, representatives of the National Center for Human Rights, civil society institutions and the diplomatic corps, UN workers, Director General of the World Health Organization and Regional Director of this Organization for Europe, representatives of UNESCO and the International Labor Organization.
Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva in her introduction emphasized the importance of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals for Uzbekistan and noted that an appropriate commission has been formed in the parliament on this issue.
At the same time, it was noted that Uzbekistan uses all opportunities to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic on the basis of WHO recommendations, work is underway to expand the coverage of medical services and reform this system.
In addition, it was especially noted that today in our country, large-scale work is being carried out to ensure employment of the population, which is one of the important goals in the field of sustainable development, and cooperation between the International Labor Organization and Uzbekistan is strengthening day by day.
They also focused on issues related to the contribution of culture to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, the preservation of the cultural sphere after the coronavirus pandemic.
The participants of the event highly appreciating the tough and effective measures taken by the head of state to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, separately recognized the country's significant achievements in this area.
