Suspects Detained in Bodrum for Assault on Uzbek Citizen

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Bodrum, Türkiye, law enforcement authorities have detained two men suspected of raping and robbing a 36-year-old Uzbek citizen.

The suspects, construction workers aged 24 and 25, were identified by the gendarmerie and brought before the court, which approved their detention.

The incident occurred in the Gökçebel neighborhood of the Yalıkavak district. According to the investigation, the woman was waiting for transportation at the roadside when a car with two men approached, offering to drive her to the Türkbükü district. During the ride, the driver changed the route and headed toward a construction site.

According to the victim, the men dragged her inside the building and, threatening violence, committed the sexual assault.

Afterward, the perpetrators openly stole her bag, money, and mobile phone before fleeing the scene.

Despite her injuries and state of shock, the woman managed to reach nearby houses and sought help from local residents.

The victim has been hospitalized in Bodrum State Hospital, where she is receiving medical and psychological support. The progress of the investigation is under the supervision of local human rights organizations.
