Surkhandarya and Fars Provinces Strengthen Tourism Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Expanded talks were held in Surkhandarya Region with a delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran, led by the Governor of Fars Province, Hossein Ali Amiri.

Fars Province is one of Iran’s largest and economically active regions, as well as one of its oldest cultural centers. The region has significant potential in agriculture, industry, handicrafts, and tourism.

The province operates seven airports, three of which have international status. Its strategic location along the Persian Gulf facilitates strong tourist and economic ties with Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, and other regional countries.

The negotiations were chaired by Surkhandarya Governor Ulugbek Kasimov and Fars Governor Hossein Ali Amiri. Bilateral talks and separate B2B meetings with tourism sector entrepreneurs were held.

Participants noted that Uzbekistan-Iran relations have reached a strategic level thanks to the political will and constructive dialogue of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, and President Masoud Pezeshkian. They emphasized the importance of strengthening interregional cooperation and expanding practical ties in tourism, trade, economy, investment, culture, and humanitarian initiatives.

The discussions covered opportunities for collaboration in tourism, industry, mining, agriculture, food production, trade, logistics, transport, textiles, education, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals. Special attention was given to mutually beneficial cooperation in tourism, higher education, and healthcare.

Following the talks, the parties signed a memorandum on the development of cooperation between Surkhandarya Region and Fars Province.
