Surkhandarya and Balkh Sign Memorandum on Regional Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Within the framework of initiatives by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan aimed at developing friendly and practical relations with neighboring Afghanistan, economic and humanitarian ties between the two countries continue to be steadily strengthened.
These measures contribute not only to expanding interregional cooperation but also to enhancing socio-economic stability in Afghanistan.
Cooperation between Surkhandarya and the Afghan province of Balkh is entering a new phase. Recently, the fifth meeting of the Interregional Cooperation Working Commission took place, serving as a logical continuation of the established practice of bilateral collaboration.
The meeting of delegations, headed by the Deputy Hokim of Surkhandarya and the Deputy Governor of Balkh, was held at the Termez International Trade Center.
The event featured an open dialogue involving leaders of export-oriented organizations, as well as entrepreneurs specializing in pomegranate and dried product exports. In addition, B2B negotiations allowed business circles from both regions to discuss specific projects and prospects for joint work.
The delegations also familiarized themselves with the activities of the Termez International Trade Center, evaluating the available opportunities and the exhibition of goods imported from Afghanistan.
Following the meetings, the Surkhandarya Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Afghan Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed a memorandum of cooperation, formalizing the agreements reached and outlining future directions for collaboration.
