Surkhandarya and Balkh Discuss Trade and Logistics Development

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The fifth meeting of the Working Commission on Cooperation between Surkhandarya Region of Uzbekistan and Balkh Province of Afghanistan was held at the Teriza International Trade Center.

Representatives of export organizations and entrepreneurs specializing in pomegranate cultivation and dried products exchanged views and experiences during the meeting.

The delegations, led by the Deputy Hokim of Surkhandarya Region and the Deputy Governor of Balkh Province, were addressed by the head of the regional customs department, I. G‘ulomov.

It was emphasized that, within the framework of the initiatives of the President of Uzbekistan aimed at developing friendly and practical cooperation with neighboring Afghanistan, economic and trade ties between the two countries are steadily expanding.

During the meeting, commission members visited the Teriza International Trade Center to explore its capabilities and attended an exhibition of products supplied from Afghanistan.

On the same day, a bilateral meeting of the customs authorities of Surkhandarya and Balkh regions was held.

The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in the transport and logistics sector, increasing throughput and efficiency at border customs posts, and ensuring food security.
