Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – The Presidential Resolution “On measures to expand incentive mechanisms for the introduction of water-saving technologies in agriculture” was adopted.
In accordance with the resolution, starting from 1 January 2020:
- subsidies are provided to agricultural producers to cover part of the costs of introducing water-saving irrigation technologies, as well as part of the interest costs on bank loans allocated for their purchase and construction;
- import contracts concluded by agricultural producers as part of the implementation of water-saving irrigation technologies are not subject to requirements for the mandatory examination and registration of import contracts concluded by budget recipients;
- the procedure for providing financial support to agricultural enterprises growing raw cotton for state needs on low-yielding lands at the expense of the State budget is canceled.
Also, according to the resolution, from 1 January 2022:
- the procedure for covering, through subsidies from the State budget, the cost of electricity consumed by pumping units and irrigation wells for the production of raw cotton and cereals, applies exclusively to manufacturers that have introduced water-saving technologies;
- the use by agricultural producers of irrigation wells and vertical drainage wells of water management organizations for irrigation of crops is permitted provided that water-saving irrigation technologies are used.
At the same time, a Concept for the Development of Water Management in 2020–2030 will be developed.
