Students from Uzbekistan start to study at the NNIU MEPhI
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The first group of students from Uzbekistan started training under the bachelor and master’s programs in the specialty "Nuclear Physics and Technology" on the basis of the Russian National Research Nuclear University “MEPhI” (NNIU MEPhI). This was reported by the press office of the State Corporation Rosatom.
Preparation of students from Uzbekistan in NNIU MEPhI is carried out in accordance with the intergovernmental agreement of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation on cooperation in the field of the use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes, signed at the end of last year.
Two-stage competitive selection of candidates was organized by representatives of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan in March 2018. Applications for training came from 326 applicants from all regions of the republic.
In the first round applicants for the Bachelor’s program passed written examinations in physics, mathematics and Russian, and those entering the magistracy passed an oral examination interview in four cities - Andijan, Nukus, Samarkand and Tashkent.
To participate in the final competition, according to the results of the first round, the commission of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan selected 81 applicants. In the final round of the contest, held in Tashkent on the basis of the National University of Uzbekistan, the MEPhI teachers identified 15 winners, 12 of which were recommended for undergraduate programme and 3 - for graduate programme.
During the training at the NIIU MEPhI, students from Uzbekistan will be given the opportunity to practice, including at the existing facilities of the Russian nuclear industry.
