Student in Tashkent Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Murdering a Call Girl
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A 20-year-old second-year university student has been sentenced to ten years in prison for the premeditated murder of a young woman in a rented apartment in Tashkent, according to a report aired on the TV program Millar.
The crime took place on 10 June in the Yashnabad district of the capital. According to the case materials, the defendant had invited a woman providing sexual services to an apartment he had rented for a day. An argument broke out between them, during which the young man strangled the victim. He then wrapped her body in a bedsheet using a rope and fled the scene.
During the trial, the student testified that he had found the woman’s advertisement on one of the Telegram channels offering such services and arranged a meeting in the rented apartment, agreeing on a price of 1,200,000 soums per hour.
According to the defendant, during their encounter the woman kept receiving phone calls and began talking to someone, after which she started threatening and blackmailing him.
“Suddenly she began yelling and said: ‘You’ll find me five million soums right now, wherever you can. Otherwise, I’ll have you arrested,’” the defendant was quoted as saying on the program.
He stated that he panicked and tried to cover her mouth, but she bit his finger. In response, he strangled her.
Frightened by what he had done, the student wrapped the body, carried it out onto the balcony, and then returned to his home in the Surkhandarya region.
The Yashnabad District Criminal Court found the student guilty of committing a crime under Part 1, Article 97 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (“Premeditated murder”) and sentenced him to ten years in prison.
