Street lighting system of Tashkent city to be modernized
The document said that in order to implement a set of measures to modernize the street lighting system in Tashkent with introduction of progressive energy-saving technologies, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted resolutiion No. PP-2078 of 28 November 2013 “On measures for implementation of the project “Introduction of energy efficient technologies in street lighting system of Tashkent city” with the participation of the Islamic Development Bank” with the completion date of the project in 2016.
In 2014-2016, the project implementation was delayed due to negligent attitude of the leadership of the khokimiyat of Tashkent city, the Department of Investments of Khokimiyat of Tashkent city and the Project Implementation Unit under the Toshshaharnur State Unitary Enterprise.
According to the approved technical and economic calculations, it was planned to replace 116,083 units of mercury-containing lighting devices and 1,546 units of power supply facilities within the project, financed by the Islamic Development Bank. The international consultant was selected in November 2014, the expert examination of the contract was issued only in April 2015.
The document said that the feasibility study of the project was revised and LED lamps will be installed instead of mercury-containing devices.
The resolution said that the project will be implemented by the end of 2018. Toshelectroapparat will carry out the project.
In line with the feasibility study, Uzbekistan will contribute US$34.2 million to the project, including US$15.8 million as customs privileges.
According to the document, some 232,160 LED lamps will be procured within the project.
Uzbek President approved the list of imported raw materials, materials, components, equipment, technological equipment, which are exempt from customs payments (except for customs fees) till 1 January 2019.
