Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, on 26 June, a meeting of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis on defense and security was held.
In accordance with the Senate’s action plan for 2020, during the meeting, the state of the work carried out in the city of Tashkent on early warning of crime and the fight against crime was discussed.
The meeting was attended by senators, members of the Tashkent city Kengash of people’s deputies, representatives of relevant ministries, as well as media workers,
As a result of work carried out in 2019 in the city of Tashkent, the number of crimes in the capital decreased by 430 or 6%.
Not a single crime was committed in 76 or 14.8% of the 514 mahalla gatherings of citizens of the capital, a decrease was achieved in 369 or 72.1% of the mahallas, and the number of crimes increased in 40. Almost half of the crimes related to murder or grievous bodily harm were committed by youth, which is the worst indicator in the republic. Every third of the persons who committed crimes in the city of Tashkent, is a representative of youth, every fourth is unemployed.
Unfortunately, 79 minors committed one crime related to murder, rape, extortion, car theft and a fatal accident, 5 crimes of grievous bodily harm, 5 crimes of fraud, 3 robberies, 36 thefts.
In the capital, every tenth crime committed by women is theft, and every fifth is fraud.
In turn, during the 5 months of 2020, the work carried out to prevent offenses was also studied, and the criminal situation was assessed. In particular, 896 grave and especially grave crimes were recorded in the city. In addition, on the territory of the mahalla, the share of crimes committed in relation to all 1245 crimes is 43% and Tashkent takes first place in the negative sense of the word.
Of all the murders committed, 9 are young people, 4 are women, 3 have been previously convicted, 8 are drunk, 14 are using sharp objects.
In addition, during the meeting, information was received from the head of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Tashkent.
The views of deputies of the Tashkent city Kengash of people’s deputies on the first issue of the agenda were heard and the corresponding decision of the Committee was adopted.
Then the second issue of the agenda was considered. In particular, the deputies and heads of all law enforcement agencies were given clarifications on the essence and significance of the Law “On Amendments and Additions to the Criminal Executive Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan aimed at ensuring reliable protection of the rights and legitimate interests of convicted persons”, approved at the fifth plenary session of the Senate.
