State Nature Committee will launch a register of permits for cutting trees

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A register of issued permits for tree cutting will be launched in Uzbekistan before the end of July. This was stated by the chairman of the State Committee for Ecology and Environmental Protection Bahrom Kuchkarov.

To solve the problem of illegal cutting down of trees, a website and a system are being created. The site will regularly publish permits for cutting down trees, Gazeta.uz reports.

"Now all this goes through the khokimiyats, they give permission to cut down trees, we are working to place these permits, " Kuchkarov noted. People will receive information if trees cut legally or illegally

Bahrom Kuchkarov also talked about the procedure for obtaining permission to cut down trees. "Our inspection (Gosbiocontrol) on the ground issues a conclusion, and the permission is issued by the khokimiyat. The inspector performs measurement of the diameter of the tree, assesses its condition and only after this gives an opinion on each tree. It happens that there is an appeal to cutting down 10 trees, but we only give a conclusion to cut 5 trees, " he explained.
