Speed Limit Reduced to 80 km/h on Hazardous Sections of Tashkent–Charvak Highway

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 2026, certain sections of the Tashkent–Charvak highway will have a speed limit of 80 km/h. The decision was made by the Council of People’s Deputies of Tashkent Region to enhance road safety.

According to the official document, the reduction in speed limits is due to the high number of traffic accidents along this route.

On the state road section Bektamir–Chirchik–Guzalkent–Charvak (19–74 km), 63 traffic accidents were recorded in 2025, resulting in 15 fatalities and 50 injuries of varying severity.

The resolution stipulates that on six sections of the 4R-12 highway outside populated areas, the maximum allowed speed will be reduced from 100 to 80 km/h. Key restricted sections include Yukorichirchik District (19–20 km) and Bostanlyk District at 44–45 km, 49–50 km, 52–53 km, 61–62 km, 64–65 km, and 71–74 km.

The new speed limits aim to reduce accidents and improve safety on one of the region’s busiest routes.
