Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Compatriots working in leading medical institutions and clinics in the USA and Canada held a video conference with representatives of the healthcare system of Uzbekistan in order to exchange experiences in the fight against coronavirus, Dunyo news agency reports.
The meeting was initiated by the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Washington and the Consulate General in New York, and more than 200 doctors attended.
The Uzbek side was represented at the event by the heads of departments of the Ministry of Health, specialists from the Tashkent Institute for Advanced Medical Studies, the Republican Physiotherapy Hospital, the Republican Cardiology Center, the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Center for Pediatrics, and medical workers from all regions of our republic.
From the American and Canadian sides, the main participants in the webinar were A. Burkhanova, a doctor in the intensive care unit at Brookdale Medical Hospital Center (New York), and R. Eshov, surgeon at the Northside Gwinnett Medical Center (Atlanta, Georgia), founder N. Yuldasheva, Cardio Diagnostic Center “The Healthy Way” (Toronto, Canada), O. Mamadaliev, Laboratory Specialist at the Alberta Health Services laboratories (Canada) and P. Kobilov, Head of the Kmadental Dental Clinic (Canada).
Participants in the webinar stated that today there is no single protocol for the treatment of patients infected with coronavirus, as well as an effective drug that provides for the speedy recovery of patients. The only obstacle to the growth of the pandemic, as our compatriots in the USA and Canada noted, is strict quarantine measures - self-isolation, social distance and constant use of personal protective equipment and hygiene.
Assessing the current state of affairs in Uzbekistan, American and Canadian doctors emphasized that relatively low rates among infected and fatal cases were largely achieved thanks to the priority measures of the Government of Uzbekistan to introduce strict quarantine measures in the country.
“Everyone was struck that right after the confirmation of the first infection, the Uzbek authorities closed the whole country, which today is yielding results,” our compatriots in the USA emphasized. Special attention is paid to the responsible approach of the population of Uzbekistan during quarantine, which from the first days of the introduction of restrictions on movements strictly follows all the requirements of the government.
The briefing participants also exchanged experiences on such issues as the criteria for transferring patients to mechanical ventilation apparatus, the use of blood plasma from coronavirus-treated individuals, and the specifics of treating patients with cancer, hemophilia, and other pathologies.
Uzbek specialists were informed about American methods of hospitalization and discharge of patients, precautions and treatment with chloramine in office and residential facilities, the possibility of unloading beds in clinics, the effectiveness of the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs with Covid-19, doses of heparin and criteria for its appointment.
Our compatriots doctors in Canada spoke in detail about the possibilities of online counseling and treatment of patients with Covid-19, the features of collecting laboratory tests for coronavirus, the precautions and personal hygiene of doctors and medical workers. An exchange of experience on protection against coronavirus in dentistry, the specifics of the prevention and treatment of dental diseases in patients with Covid-19 also took place.
During the webinar, our doctors and colleagues from the United States and Canada thoroughly discussed the issues of drug treatment of the new coronovirus infection, in particular the effectiveness of the use of the antimalarial drug hydroxychloroquine and the drug remdisivir, which are now widely used in American and Canadian clinics to treat patients.
Based on the results of online consultations, an agreement was reached to continue the practice of exchanging the experience of American, Canadian and Uzbek health care professionals in fighting in COVID19 and organizing negotiations in the form of video conferencing on a regular basis.
