Special Forces of Uzbekistan the first time participates in drills in the United States
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Military personnel of special operations forces of the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan have been taking part in joint South Strike exercises at Camp Shelby military base (Mississippi) since 11 January. The special operations unit of Uzbekistan has already held two exercises since the beginning of its stay in the USA. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.
The delegation of Uzbekistan headed by the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant-General Abdusal Azizov, in order to monitor the progress of the third - the active phase of the Southern Strike exercise, departed to the United States.
South Strike Tactical Exercises are large-scale military exercises conducted by the Mississippi National Guard at the Gulfport Combat Training Center and the Combined Forces Training Center at Camp Shelby. The exercises provide an opportunity for all arms of the armed forces, including guard units, reserve forces, and also regular troops, in practice, to maintain combat readiness and interaction between US forces and key allies. Exercise scenarios are designed to meet current global crises and meet the individual training needs of the units involved.
Military personnel from the special forces of Canada, Chile and the Netherlands also take part in the exercise.
The military delegation of Uzbekistan, within the framework of the official visit to the USA, will also visit the headquarters of CENTCOM in Tampa (the state of Florida).
On 12 May 2018, Minister of Defense Abdusalom Azizov received the military delegation of the United States of America, led by the commander of CENTCOM USA, General Joseph Whitel, and on 18 September 2018, the US delegation led by the commander of the Mississippi National Guard - Deputy Governor Major General Jenson D. Boyles.
