Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- From 19 to 20 August 2020, the most important event of international parliamentary life was held in Vienna (Austria) - the Fifth Conference of Speakers of World Parliaments. World Conferences of Speakers are held once every five years and are a unique global forum for parliamentary dialogue and interaction at the highest level.

The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis was represented by Speaker Nurdinjon Ismoilov.

The participation of the leadership of the Uzbek parliament in the Forum provides our country with an opportunity to exchange views with parliamentarians of other countries on the issues of ensuring peace and sustainable development for people and the planet through effective parliamentary leadership, to develop parliamentary recommendations on ways to solve pressing problems currently facing the peoples of the countries of the world ...

In advance, the organizing committee of the Forum was presented by the Uzbek Parliament with materials revealing the state and prospects of the development of parliamentarism in the country, a list of urgent problems of concern to the citizens of our country, and, in particular, information on the practice of overcoming the negative consequences of the coronavirus epidemic in Uzbekistan.

The national parliament praised the operational, large-scale actions of state bodies, which, under the leadership of the President of the country Shavkat Mirziyoyev, were able to save our country from the worst possible consequences of the outbreak of COVID-19. They talked about the measures being implemented in Uzbekistan to support the economic, political and social activity of citizens, business and civil society institutions.

The speech of the Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan at the conference, which was recorded in advance on video and posted on the Internet, was available not only to Internet users, but also to the participants of the plenary session.

As a result of the Fifth Conference, the Declaration on Parliamentary Leadership for More Effective Multilateralism that Ensures Peace and Sustainable Development for People and the Planet was adopted.
