Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 13 July 2022, in the lower house of parliament, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nuriddinjon Ismoilov met with a delegation led by Chairman of the Majlis of the Islamic Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf.
At the beginning of the conversation, the Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis warmly welcomed the Chairman of the Majlis of the Islamic Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran, congratulated him on his arrival in our country, and wished him success in further developing cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.
During the meeting, a positive assessment was given to the gradual development of bilateral relations, the intensification in recent years of dialogue between our countries in the political and economic spheres.
- The heads of our states during the high-level dialogues at the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Dushanbe in September last year and the Economic Cooperation Organization in Ashgabat in November 2021, paid special attention to practical cooperation between our countries. This is an important factor in the further development of bilateral trade and economic, scientific and technical, transport and logistics, energy, cultural and humanitarian ties, said Speaker N. Ismoilov. - In turn, we need to bring relations between the parliaments of the two states to a new level. Since the role of inter-parliamentary cooperation is significant in strengthening friendship and partnership between our countries and peoples that have a common history, religion, customs and traditions.
During the conversation, information was given on the legislative activities of the Parliament of Uzbekistan, in particular the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, rule-making, the work of committees and factions, news in the field of parliamentarism.
In turn, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf noted the expediency of continuing dialogues in a constructive and practical spirit, further expanding and strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation, which is an important factor in the development of bilateral relations, building up dialogues in this direction.
During the meeting, held in the spirit of mutual trust, issues of expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation between Uzbekistan and Iran, enriching it with new content, and exchanging experience in the field of lawmaking were discussed.
The parties agreed to strengthen the role of parliaments in strengthening practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Iran.
