Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, the second batch of humanitarian cargo provided by the Government of the Republic of Korea and intended for the Agency for Sanitary and Epidemiological Wellbeing under the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan arrived in Tashkent on a cargo flight of Korean Air.
The first batch of humanitarian aid was delivered to the republic on 10 July 2020 and consisted of 144,000 units of medical masks (KF94). The current batch includes 206 thousand units of similar medical masks.
It should be noted that from the very beginning of the spread of coronavirus infection in Uzbekistan, the Republic of Korea has regularly provided both technical and advisory assistance to the republic’s health care system.
In particular, at the early stage of the spread of the coronavirus, Professors Choi Jae Wook and Yun Seung Zhu arrived in Uzbekistan as consultants and helped local specialists in the fight against the outbreak. At the end of April, the republic was provided with diagnostic kits worth US$250,000.
In addition, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Korea International Foundation for Health and Medicine (KOFIH), Korea Water Corporation, Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) provided support to socially vulnerable groups. South Korean companies also provided assistance to Uzbekistan.
All this undoubtedly testifies to the fact that the special friendship between our countries and peoples will continue to be strengthened thanks to constant mutual assistance and cooperation, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Tashkent stressed.
