Song and video presentation of the winners of the UN MDG song competition held in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 6 September 2014, UNDP/UNV Project “Social innovation and volunteerism in Uzbekistan" held Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) song and video clip presentation in Tashkent.

Approximately 62% of Uzbekistan’s population constitutes youth under the age of 30, and 35% represent children under the age of 16. With an objective to listen to young people, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and UN Volunteers (UNV) in Uzbekistan at the middle of summer holidays announced the song contest among youth of Uzbekistan on the eight Millennium Development Goals, including gender equality, education, environment, HIV/AIDS and enhancement of living standards. The contest gained momentum and the selection panel received 127 submissions from youth from all over the country.

The award ceremony has highlighted the best young non-professional music bands, singers and musicians, males and females in the age of 14 to 27 that participated with their records in various styles on the topics of gender equality, prevention of HIV/AIDs, protection of environment, healthy lifestyle, education, enhancement of living standards.

The winners of the song contest became Elbek Rizaev from Tashkent and Bukhara Jamshid Hojiev, who received the prize - the opportunity to record a song with the national pop-star Shahzoda.

During a certain period, the winners in collaboration with professional composer, clip-makers and designers along with support of volunteers to record a new song and clip on MDGs. As a result of hard work, the song and the video are now ready for presentation.
