Solar and Wind Power Plants in Uzbekistan Generate 1 Billion kWh of “Green” Energy in 2026
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In 2026, solar and wind power plants in Uzbekistan produced 1 billion kWh of electricity, exceeding the same period last year by 400 million kWh, or 40%.
According to the Ministry of Energy, as of 12:30 on February 13, the cumulative generation of “green” electricity since the start of the year reached 1 billion kWh. Currently, the country operates 15 solar photovoltaic plants with a total capacity of 5,582 MW and 5 wind power plants.
Uzbekistan began the large-scale deployment of renewable energy in 2022, when solar plants in Navoi and Samarkand regions generated 434 million kWh. In 2023, this figure rose to 576.9 million kWh, in 2024 nine solar and one wind plant produced 4.86 billion kWh, and in 2025 all solar and wind power plants collectively generated 10.5 billion kWh.
Since the beginning of 2026, solar plants have generated 396 million kWh, and wind plants 604 million kWh. This has saved 267 million cubic meters of natural gas and prevented the emission of over 575,000 tons of harmful substances into the atmosphere.
Taking into account hydropower plants, the total electricity generation from the start of the year to February 13 reached 1.57 billion kWh, saving 400 million cubic meters of natural gas and avoiding the release of over 863,000 tons of pollutants.
