Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 5 March 2020, the Senate hosted a meeting of the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodik Safoev with the Chief Executive Officer of the VEON group of companies, Kaan Terzioglu. The adviser of the VEON group of companies Boris Tadich also participated in it.

During the meeting, an exchange of views took place regarding the state and practice of applying legislative acts, liberalizing the country's tax legislation in the telecommunications industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

It was emphasized that the announcement of 2020 as the Year of the Development of Science, Education and the Digital Economy indicates that Uzbekistan attaches particular importance to providing state support for the development of freedom of business and creating the necessary legal foundations for this.

The VEON group of companies, supporting the ongoing effective reforms in Uzbekistan, expressed its readiness to continue its participation in investment projects aimed at improving the organizational and institutional foundations of the digital economy and electronic within the framework of the 2020 State Program - “Year of the Development of Science, Education and the Digital Economy” government, the development of telecommunications infrastructure, the expansion of broadband use of the Internet, the development and modernization of mobile networks and others telecommunications services.
