SOCAR Plans to Participate in Project to Improve Efficiency of Bukhara Refinery
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic, SOCAR, plans to participate in a project aimed at increasing the productivity of the Bukhara Oil Refinery, according to Uzbekneftegaz.
Abdugani Sanginov, Chairman of Uzbekneftegaz, held talks with the management of SOCAR’s subsidiary units — SOCAR Trading and SOCAR Downstream Management. The discussion included N. Aliyev, Director of Global Government Relations at SOCAR Trading, and G. Mikailov, Advisor to the CEO of SOCAR Downstream Management.
The parties noted the stable development of the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, emphasizing that the high level of political dialogue provides a favorable foundation for expanding cooperation in the oil and gas sector.
SOCAR expressed interest in improving the efficiency of the Bukhara Refinery through the introduction of modern operational technologies, digitalization of production processes, and increased energy efficiency.
Following the meeting, it was decided to continue practical cooperation and organize a visit by a SOCAR working group to the refinery to conduct a technical audit and develop concrete recommendations for further actions.
The Bukhara Oil Refinery specializes in processing crude oil and gas condensate. The first phase of the refinery was commissioned on 22 August 1997.
With a design capacity of 2.5 million tons of feedstock per year, the refinery produces gasoline grades A-80, A-91/92, A-95, and A-98 according to Euro 2 standards, aviation fuel Jet A-1, diesel fuel meeting Euro 4, Euro 5, and Euro 6 standards, as well as fuel oil, liquefied petroleum gas, solvents, and sulfur.
