Six people killed in explosion of gas-air mixture in Samarkand
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Six people have died as a result of an explosion of a gas-air mixture in the Samarkand region. This was reported by the regional Emergency Situations Department.
According to the information from the Emergency Situations Department, the tragedy occurred during the night of 8-9 May 2025, in a house on Spitamen Street in the "Bogisaroy" neighborhood of Samarkand. The ignition of the gas-air mixture inside the house led to the explosion.
Fire and rescue teams, who arrived promptly at the scene, began working to mitigate the consequences of the incident.
The explosion, caused by the ignition of the mixture, led to the collapse of reinforced concrete structures in the building, affecting the first three floors and the basement. Fortunately, there was no fire. During the search and rescue operation, the bodies of six victims were found under the rubble.
An operational headquarters was set up to coordinate the response efforts, led by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and included representatives from the prosecutor's office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Health, local authorities, the state-owned company "Khududgaztaminnot," and other relevant services.
A total of 10 units of main and specialized firefighting and rescue equipment, as well as personnel and resources from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, are participating in the recovery operations.
An investigation into the incident has been launched.
