SITA, Amadeus, and AACO Join Forces for Transparent Environmental Reporting
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — SITA, Amadeus, and the Arab Air Carriers Organization (AACO) have announced a joint initiative aimed at improving the accuracy and transparency of environmental metrics in the aviation industry.
The partners are combining their technologies to provide airlines and passengers with reliable data on the environmental impact of flights, creating a foundation for effective measures to reduce carbon footprints and enhance trust in environmental reporting.
As part of the project, SITA’s Eco Mission tool, which uses real operational and flight performance data to calculate emissions and fuel consumption accurately, has been integrated with the Amadeus Travel Impact Suite, which aggregates carbon emission calculations according to international standards.
This integration provides the industry with detailed and verified information, enabling passengers to make more informed decisions while encouraging airlines to implement climate initiatives, including carbon offsetting.
AACO Secretary-General Abdul Wahab Teffaha noted that the collaboration between Amadeus and SITA helps optimize operational costs and engages passengers in sustainability through data transparency. “Joint solutions will be an important step in advancing environmental sustainability and strengthening trust between airlines and their customers,” he emphasized.
SITA for Aircraft CEO Yann Cabare added that the initiative demonstrates the spirit of collaboration needed in the industry and helps build trust between passengers and airlines through transparent environmental information.
He stated that combining Amadeus’ technological solutions with SITA’s operational data ensures the accuracy of environmental reporting and clearly shows the potential of industry partnerships in achieving tangible progress.
Maher Kubaa, Executive Vice President of the Travel Unit at Amadeus, highlighted that the collaboration provides an additional source of verified emissions data, allowing airlines, agencies, and passengers to more accurately assess the environmental footprint of each flight and make informed decisions, while maintaining consistency in environmental reporting at all levels.
The initiative illustrates how the combination of data, operational solutions, and passenger engagement helps turn sustainability goals into measurable outcomes.
The project assists airlines in adapting to increasing regulatory requirements and rising costs, demonstrating the power of collaborative innovation in addressing shared industry challenges.
Amid growing passenger demand for transparency, this partnership highlights the aviation sector’s path toward a more open and sustainable future.
