Shopping Centers Atlas and Store Plyus Temporarily Closed in Samarkand Over Fire Safety Violations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Operations at two major shopping and entertainment centers in Samarkand, Atlas and Store Plyus, have been temporarily suspended.

The decision follows the discovery of serious fire safety violations, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported. The inspections were personally conducted by the Minister of Emergency Situations, Major General Azizbek Ikramov.

Violations were found in food court areas and children’s play zones. Inspectors paid particular attention to the condition of emergency exits, the functionality of automatic fire suppression systems, and the availability of primary firefighting equipment.

Inspections of public gathering venues nationwide have been intensified following a recent tragic fire at the Aviator shopping center in the capital.
