Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, held talks with Rajit Nanda, CEO of Datavolt, to discuss the progress and future steps of a high-tech, eco-friendly data center project in Tashkent.

The project, led by Datavolt, aims to boost the country’s digital infrastructure by creating a reliable and energy-efficient platform for data processing and storage, serving both public institutions and the private sector. It is set to become Uzbekistan’s first major infrastructure facility powered entirely by renewable energy and aligned with global standards for environmental sustainability.

A key topic of the meeting was the potential introduction of the International Renewable Energy Certificate (I-REC) system in Uzbekistan. This initiative would support the development of a sustainable energy supply framework and encourage the adoption of green technologies in the energy and IT sectors.

The discussions also covered ways to improve energy efficiency in IT, expand the use of renewable energy, and scale up corporate digital infrastructure.

Both sides agreed to deepen cooperation, ensure the successful implementation of the current project, and explore new opportunities in digital and environmentally sustainable technologies.
