Shavkat Mirziyoyev Visits the “Yangi Uzbekistan” Residential Complex Under Construction in Surkhandarya Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the ongoing construction of the “Yangi Uzbekistan” residential complex in the Jarkurgan District of Surkhandarya Region.

Uzbekistan continues to systematically expand efforts to provide high-quality living conditions for its population and to develop modern, comfortable housing.

In accordance with the Presidential Decree of 12 October 2021, measures have been implemented to construct the “Yangi Uzbekistan” complexes and to promote comprehensive socio-economic development in targeted areas.

One such project, designed according to contemporary urban planning standards, is underway in Jarkurgan District. On 50 hectares of developed steppe, 116 apartment buildings are planned. To date, a polyclinic, a kindergarten with 180 places, a school for 330 students, and a mahalla (community) building have been completed, while 1,500 residents have already moved into 68 apartment buildings.

An IT and English language training center has started operations, seven microcenters and five commercial and service facilities have been built. Drinking water and heating networks have been installed, about 3 kilometers of gas pipelines laid, and a 250 kW transformer installed. On 4.5 hectares, decorative and fruit trees have been planted, and on 300 hectares of desert land, saxaul trees have been sown.

Further construction will include about 50 additional apartment buildings. Specifically, 14 new apartment buildings with 280 units are planned for this year, along with new roads, landscaping, and the creation of a public park.

During the visit, the President reviewed the operations of the service management company “Yangi Yoshlar”, which manages 161 apartment buildings in the district, including 54 within this complex. Solar panels with capacities ranging from 5 to 15 kW have been installed on the rooftops of the buildings.

Special attention was given to inclusive education. The President inspected School No. 66, including facilities for children with disabilities. The school currently educates more than 500 students. Special approaches in line with modern standards have been implemented for children with special needs, with around 50 specialized staff and teachers employed. The schoolyard, corridors, classrooms, cafeteria, gym, and medical treatment room are all fully equipped.

After reviewing the infrastructure, the President emphasized the importance of artificial intelligence and digitalization for youth life and their future. He noted that integrating AI training into school curricula is essential for preparing students for future professions.

The President then visited the Foreign Language and IT Training Center within the complex. The 400-seat facility, built with an investment of 6.5 billion soums, provides opportunities for over 2,000 young people annually to study and work on projects. Around 200 participants have completed computer literacy and front-end courses and received certificates, while nearly 150 students have achieved B2 level or higher in IELTS exams. The center employs about 20 specialists.

President Mirziyoyev highlighted the importance of such centers in engaging youth in education, particularly in learning foreign languages, and stressed the need to support and cooperate with these initiatives, including through partnerships with international organizations.

The visit concluded with the President participating in the sumalak-sayil festival, a cherished spring tradition, interacting with local residents, and listening to their feedback.

He emphasized that the “Yangi Uzbekistan” complexes are being built to ensure a high-quality, prosperous life for citizens, and that the development of education and productive work is key to strengthening Uzbekistan’s reputation and implementing new initiatives, including in the Surkhandarya Region.
