Shavkat Mirziyoyev Signs Law on Consumer Protection and Stricter Administrative Liability
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a law introducing amendments and additions to several legislative acts.
Under the new provisions, sellers are required to strictly adhere to the terms of sales contracts. In the event of delayed delivery, they must pay the consumer a penalty amounting to 0.5% of the value of the undelivered portion of the obligation for each day of delay. At the same time, the total accrued penalties cannot exceed the cost of the goods that were not delivered.
The law also strengthens liability for failure to comply with lawful orders issued by officers of the Internal Affairs bodies and the National Guard. Amendments to the Administrative Liability Code now provide for harsher penalties for such violations.
In addition, the use of exclusively iodized salt has been made mandatory in the production of all food products.
