Shavkat Mirziyoyev Reviews High-Voltage Cable Plant Project in Tashkent Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 13 February, during a working visit to Akhangaran District in Tashkent Region, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the operations of Enco Group, a company specializing in high-voltage cable production.

Uzbekistan is implementing a large-scale energy sector modernization program, including the construction of new power plants and substations, upgrading transmission networks, and extensive adoption of renewable energy sources.

Rising industrial production and population growth have led to steadily increasing electricity demand, creating a need for further development of high-voltage power lines. Against this backdrop, demand for high-voltage cables remains stable in both domestic and international markets.

The Enco Group facility is being established on a 21-hectare site within the Eltech Industrial Technopark in partnership with the Belarusian company Energokomplekt. The total project cost is estimated at approximately US$60 million. Upon reaching full capacity, the plant is expected to create around 600 jobs.

The project is being implemented in two phases. In the long term, the plant will be able to produce up to 25,000 tons of products annually, with a total export potential estimated at US$300 million. Currently, the first phase of construction is 98% complete, with over US$10 million invested.

Products are planned for export to Germany, Latvia, Estonia, Bulgaria, and CIS countries, with projected annual export revenue of US$140 million. In 2025, Uzbekistan imported nearly US$400 million worth of high-voltage cables and insulated copper busbars. Once operational, the plant is expected to replace imports with domestic production valued at around US$150 million.

Uzbekistan currently accounts for four of the twelve electrotechnical enterprises in Central Asia, reflecting the country’s gradual development of a high value-added sector.

During the visit, the President was briefed on Enco Group’s future development plans, including proposals to expand production volumes, increase product range, and enhance localization.

Following the visit, President Mirziyoyev instructed relevant authorities to support industrial cooperation, improve the use of local raw materials, implement advanced technologies, and further increase the production of competitive, export-oriented products.
