Shavkat Mirziyoyev: Our people are rightfully proud of their patriotic youth

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev from 27 September 2019, a group of athletes and coaches of Uzbekistan, who achieved high results at the World Boxing Championship held in Yekaterinburg in Russia, were awarded honorary titles and medals.

The ceremony of presenting these high awards took place on 30 September 2019. The event was attended by representatives of state and public organizations, heads of sports federations, parents of boxers.

In our country, all conditions have been created for the self-realization of youth and the development of sports. The Concept for the Development of Physical Culture and Mass Sports for 2019-2023 is being consistently implemented. New sports facilities are being commissioned in the field, and a healthy lifestyle is being actively adopted among young people. The necessary conditions are created for training professional athletes and their continuous improvement of their skills.

At a video-selective meeting held on 4 September 2019, chaired by the head of state, additional measures were identified to develop physical education and sports, strengthen preparations for international competitions.

Since then, representatives of Uzbekistan participated in several tournaments and achieved great success. In particular, on 14-22 September, at the World Championship in Greco-Roman wrestling in the capital of Kazakhstan, Nur-Sultan, the national team of our country took second place, having won 4 medals. In addition, winners from Uzbekistan received licenses to participate in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

On 20-25 September, in Tashkent at a high organizational level, competitions from the Judo Grand Prix series were held. Athletes from 71 countries competed in them in 14 weight categories. Team Uzbekistan took second place with 6 medals.

The boxing world championship, held in Yekaterinburg on 6-22 September, became even more successful for our athletes. At this tournament, with the participation of the strongest masters of leather gloves from about 80 countries, our team won 3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals in uncompromising struggle. Leaving behind representatives of such boxing powers as the USA, Cuba, Russia, Kazakhstan, England, India, Uzbek athletes took first place in the team event. And the team captain Bahodir Jalolov recognized as the best boxer of the championship.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev sincerely congratulated the athletes, their coaches and mentors, all of our people on the historic victory of the national boxing team.

- The example you showed at the championship of high courage and perseverance, the great victory you have achieved are worthy of all praise and admiration. In those days, all our people, from small to large, wished you good luck and with great excitement and interest watched what was happening on the Yekaterinburg arena. Our country is rightfully proud of you, its brave and patriotic youth, who justified this high confidence, the head of state noted.

It was noted that this is the result of excellent preparation - not only physical, but also moral, spiritual, and that such high victories are achieved by those who worthily continue the work of Jaloliddin Manguberdi, Amir Temur, Pakhlavon Mahmud and our other great ancestors.

The President expressed gratitude to the parents, dedicated trainers and mentors who brought up such heroes.

As you know, at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, our boxers also won first place in the team event. And the results of the last World Cup clearly showed that these successes are not an accident - Uzbekistan is literally becoming a boxing power.

- This victory inscribed the words “Uzbek Boxing School”, “Boxers of Uzbekistan” in golden letters in the history of world sports. Now everyone is forced to recognize and respect the strength of our country's boxers, the Uzbek boxing school. From now on, the words “Uzbekistan”, “Uzbek” can alert even the most powerful rivals, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

The head of state named and congratulated each athlete who became the winner and prize winner, as well as their coaches. These achievements, as noted, laid a solid foundation for a successful performance at the upcoming next year's Olympic Games in Tokyo, it is necessary to obtain more licenses and carefully prepare for this prestigious competition.

The President solemnly presented the highest awards of the Motherland to the boxers and their mentors.

- All our efforts are aimed at making people happy, and youth harmoniously developing. Your triumph is another proof that if there is justice in every sphere, if talents from even the most remote villages can realize themselves, then the result will certainly make itself felt. This is a signal to all our youth: set high goals, work on yourself, achieve high success, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

Boxers, their parents and mentors thanked the head of state for the high attention paid to the development of sports, encouraging athletes and coaches.
