Shavkat Mirziyoyev Meets U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Latnick
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks in Washington with U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Latnick.
The discussion focused on further strengthening strategic partnership, boosting trade and investment cooperation, and implementing joint projects in key economic sectors.
Both sides noted the steady development of multifaceted U.S.–Uzbek relations: in recent years, trade turnover has quadrupled, reaching nearly one billion dollars. Over 300 American companies operate successfully in Uzbekistan, carrying out large-scale joint projects in industry, agriculture, energy, and innovation sectors.
The parties emphasized mutual interest in strengthening trade ties, creating effective interregional cooperation mechanisms, and establishing a Coordination Council. Special attention was given to the agricultural sector, including initial contracts for U.S. soybean and cotton supplies, as well as the introduction of advanced drip irrigation technologies.
Following the talks, an agreement was reached to intensify practical cooperation through the creation of an investment platform supporting joint projects.
