Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev laid a wreath to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Alexander Garden of Moscow during a working visit to the Russian Federation.

This monument, which has universal significance, was created as a tribute to the immortal memory of millions of soldiers of various nationalities, including the sons of Uzbekistan, who fought bravely and fell for their homeland in World War II. The memorial on which the inscription “Your name is unknown, your feat is immortal” is laid out symbolizes the heroism and feat of our ancestors.

Despite the fact that hostilities took place far beyond the borders of our republic, hardships and suffering affected every Uzbek family, a tremendous contribution was made to ensuring victory over fascism. So, about 1 million 951 thousand people were mobilized for the war, more than 200 thousand soldiers and officers were awarded military awards. 1.5 million people were evacuated to Uzbekistan, including more than 250 thousand children. Our generous people sheltered them and shared the last piece of bread.
