Shavkat Mirziyoyev Honors Saudi Arabian Ambassador for Contributions to Bilateral Relations
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 29 December, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Yousef al-Otaiba, who is concluding his diplomatic mission in the country.
The President highlighted the ambassador’s significant personal contribution to strengthening Uzbek-Saudi cooperation and emphasized the dynamic development of bilateral relations.
Contacts at all levels are expanding, trade turnover and direct investments are increasing, the number of joint ventures has grown, and the total portfolio of projects with leading Saudi companies has exceeded US$27 billion.
Initiatives are being implemented in the fields of green energy, agriculture, healthcare, and infrastructure.
Cultural and humanitarian exchanges have intensified: in October, Uzbekistan Days were held in Saudi Arabia, and Uzbekistan participated in the International Book Fair in Riyadh. The President also expressed gratitude for facilitating the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages for Uzbek citizens.
In recognition of his contributions, Yusuf al-Utaibi was awarded the “Friendship” Order.
In response, the ambassador thanked the President for his high appraisal of his work and for supporting the development of comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
