Shavkat Mirziyoyev Highlights Global Conflict Threats to the Region at the OTS Summit

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Prolonged wars have a serious negative impact on the countries of the region, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated during his speech at the summit of Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Gabala.

The head of state emphasized the complexity of current geopolitical processes and the growing threats to global security.

He drew attention to recent speeches by world leaders at the anniversary session of the UN General Assembly in New York, which once again demonstrated the absence of a unified position regarding the architecture of global politics and security.

“Current times demand from us a deep reform and improvement of the global governance system, enhancing the role of the UN and its Security Council. In particular, a key task is to strengthen close cooperation to enhance the status and voice of developing countries,” Mirziyoyev emphasized.

The president specifically addressed the situation in the Gaza Strip, the challenges in Ukraine, Iran’s nuclear program, and the need to stabilize the situation in Afghanistan, stressing that the escalation of conflicts on the Eurasian continent directly affects the security of countries in the region.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed support for the efforts of leading world powers to establish a just world order and build trust between countries.

“We welcome the aspirations and new plans of leading world powers to establish a fair world order, ensuring mutual trust and security,” the head of state said.

As a practical initiative, the president proposed holding a joint meeting of foreign ministers and heads of security services of the Turkic Council member states to conduct an in-depth analysis of the global situation and develop necessary solutions.

“I believe that, in order to thoroughly analyze the global situation and make the necessary decisions, the time requires holding joint meetings of the foreign ministers and heads of security services of the Turkic Council. We propose that the first such joint meeting take place next year in Samarkand,” he noted.
