Shavkat Mirziyoyev Extends Condolences to the Leadership of Pakistan over Flood Victims
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev conveyed his condolences to President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif over the numerous human casualties and injuries caused by heavy rains and floods that struck the country’s northwestern regions.
The head of state expressed his deep sympathy and support to the families and loved ones of the victims, and wished a swift recovery to all those injured.
According to Geo News, the death toll from floods triggered by torrential rains in northern Pakistan has reached 351 people.
The highest number of fatalities was recorded in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province — 328 people. In Gilgit-Baltistan, 12 people lost their lives, and another 11 died in Azad Kashmir.
The disaster caused significant damage to residential buildings, businesses, and infrastructure facilities in the districts of Buner, Swat, Mansehra, Bajaur, and Battagram.
