Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Angor Surkhon Gururi cluster in Angora district and got acquainted with the progress of wheat and cotton cultivation.
The cluster has a sown area of more than 11 thousand hectares, 4 870 of which are sown with wheat. This year, disease-resistant wheat varieties were imported from Russia. The yield is expected at 80 centners per hectare.
The head of state got behind the wheel of a harvester and harvested grain in a section of the field.
Cotton is grown in double rows on 4,656 hectares. Californian irrigation saves 50 percent of water.
In a conversation with experts in the field, the head of state noted the importance of popularizing the method of growing cotton in double rows in the southern regions, which will allow for a higher yield.
The cluster also grows vegetables and legumes.
