Shavkat Mirziyoyev: “Eid al-Adha Reflects the Spirit of Humanism, Unity, and Compassion”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has congratulated the people of the country on the sacred holiday of Eid al-Adha, emphasizing its deep significance for the Islamic Ummah and Uzbek society as a whole.

"I sincerely congratulate you, all Muslims of our country, and our entire people on this great, sacred holiday of Eid al-Adha, and express my deep respect and best wishes," the President said in his address.

He stressed that the values embodied in this holiday — humanism, compassion, generosity, and unity — align closely with the core priorities of Uzbekistan’s state policy. “The values of this holiday... contribute to the effectiveness of our programs aimed at supporting vulnerable segments of the population, showing special care for the elderly, youth, and women, and reducing poverty,” Mirziyoyev stated.

The President also emphasized that Uzbekistan is consistently implementing measures to strengthen interethnic and interfaith harmony, ensure freedom of conscience, and preserve spiritual heritage. “Today, a tremendous effort is underway in our country to further reinforce national and religious harmony, guarantee freedom of belief, and preserve our spiritual and educational heritage,” he noted.

Special attention in the congratulatory message was given to the role of Islamic culture and scholarship. The President recalled that Samarkand has been designated the Capital of Islamic Culture for 2025, the 1155th anniversary of Imam Maturidi is being widely celebrated, and a research center dedicated to Bahauddin Naqshband will soon begin operating in Bukhara. He also underscored the global importance of the Center of Islamic Civilization currently under construction in Tashkent. “I am confident that the opening of this bright symbol of our ancient, millennia-old history... will be a landmark event in the life of New Uzbekistan,” he said.

Mirziyoyev extended special greetings to the 15,000 Uzbek pilgrims performing Hajj this year: “During these blessed days, we congratulate our pilgrims on Eid al-Adha and pray for their safe return home.”

The President also addressed compatriots living abroad and Muslims around the world, wishing peace, prosperity, and well-being. “Today, as our hearts are filled with joy, we sincerely congratulate our fellow citizens living abroad... and extend our heartfelt Eid greetings to the entire Muslim Ummah across the globe.”

In conclusion, President Mirziyoyev expressed confidence in the resilience and unity of the Uzbek people: “Our courageous and noble nation, which has honorably overcome many trials throughout history, is certainly capable of achieving great goals.”

“Once again, from the bottom of my heart, I congratulate all of you, my dear ones, on the sacred holiday of Eid al-Adha. I wish peace, tranquility, health, and prosperity to your families,” President Shavkat Mirziyoyev concluded.
