Shavkat Mirziyoyev approves the Al-Khwarizmi University and school project in Khorezm

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 30 April, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was presented with a proposal for the creation of Al-Khwarizmi University in Urgench.

The project is part of the construction of the Al-Khwarizmi educational campus, which was launched in August 2022. The campus will house both a university and a specialized school, named after the prominent scientist Al-Khwarizmi.

During the presentation, the key areas of development for these future institutions were outlined. The university will have three faculties: Mathematics and Informatics, Aerospace Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence.

The educational programs will cover sectors such as the economy, information technology, industry, security, energy, and ecology. Courses will be offered in both Uzbek and English, following a credit-modular system. The academic model will be based on that of the "New Uzbekistan" University, with support from leading universities in the UAE, China, and the UK. The first student intake is planned for the 2025–2026 academic year, with enrollment expected to range from 4,000 to 6,000 students.

Additionally, the campus will feature a branch of the Tashkent-based Muhammad al-Khwarizmi School, where students from grade 4 will be accepted based on a competitive selection process. The final two years of education will focus on foundational engineering training.

The President emphasized the importance of transforming the university campus into a space that integrates academic activities with the region's historical, scientific, and tourist potential. Following the presentation, a document was signed to establish the new educational institutions.
