Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow Discuss Expansion of Uzbekistan–Turkmenistan Partnership

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, held a telephone conversation on 29 December.

During the call, they exchanged New Year greetings and wishes for peace and prosperity. Mirziyoyev also conveyed congratulations to the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedow.

The leaders discussed further development of bilateral relations in line with agreements reached at the highest level. Both sides noted that the pace of contacts remains high, with trade turnover and freight transport demonstrating steady growth. Cooperation is expanding across the energy and industrial sectors, agriculture and water management, as well as transportation.

Recent achievements highlighted include the launch of the cross-border trade zone “Shavat–Dashoguz.” The parties emphasized intensified interregional ties and cultural-humanitarian exchanges.

Special attention was given to regional cooperation. Mirziyoyev noted the successful organization of major international events in Avaza and Ashgabat, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality and the “International Year of Peace and Trust.”

The leaders agreed on a schedule of contacts for 2026 and expressed readiness to continue joint participation in international and regional forums.
