Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- PJSC Severstal, one of the world’s largest vertically integrated steel and mining companies, is developing the supply of coated rolled metal to customers of the construction industry from CIS countries such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Azerbaijan.

“Our company is strengthening its presence in the Central Asian markets by offering a wide range of coated products, including the high grade zinc coating Z600, which provides reliable protection against corrosion. This approach simultaneously reflects Severstal’s strategy - both in terms of increasing the share of value-added products and expanding its presence in the markets with the potential for further development of relations,” notes Evgeny Chernyakov, Severstal’s Director for Relations with Construction Industry Companies.

The production of high-grade galvanized steel (Z350, Z450 and Z600) has been mastered at the Cherepovets Metallurgical Plant (CherMK, part of the Severstal Russian Steel Division). This product is characterized by a thick zinc layer on a steel base - from 21 to 42 microns, depending on the class of coating; in comparison with the competing technology - dip galvanizing - the surface quality is much higher and the structure of the coating is more uniform. The applied technology of applying hot zinc ensures the durability of the structures, and the ductility and strength make it possible to obtain the required shape of the product and, at the same time, preserve the protection of steel from corrosion at bends.

The first customer in Central Asia was a manufacturer from Kazakhstan, who used the Z600 for the manufacture of ventilation systems. They, in turn, are intended for the construction of the Center for Islamic Civilization in Tashkent (Uzbekistan). This coating precisely meets the demand for high corrosion resistance, as well as protection against abrasion when sand particles enter the ventilation systems.

Galvanized steel Z350 - Z600 is also applicable for the production of spiral corrugated pipes used in road construction, elevators and other agricultural structures, structures used in aggressive environments. Can be supplied with Ecochrome passivation.

These days, the 22nd Uzbekistan International Exhibition "Construction - UzBuild 2021" is being held, where Severstal presents coated rolled products, reinforcing and hardware products.
