Seven Uzbek Boxers Advance to Next Stage of World Championships

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s national boxing team achieved strong results at the World Championships in Liverpool, securing a series of confident victories.

In the women’s 54 kg category, Nigina Uktamova dominated Hungary’s Anna Lakotar with a clean 5:0 win. She will fight for a semifinal spot on 10 September.

Shavkatjon Boltayev defeated Spain’s Bernad Martinez (3:0), booking his place in the next round.

In the 90 kg division, Turabek Khabibullaev outclassed Greece’s Vagkan Nanitzanian (5:0). He will face Kazakhstan’s Sagindik Togambay in the quarterfinals.

Navbahor Khamidova (65 kg) secured a 4:1 victory over her Belgian opponent, ensuring her continued participation in the tournament.

Abdumalik Khalokov (60 kg), the reigning world champion, left no chance for Italy’s Giuseppe Canonico, once again displaying his trademark confident style.

Fazliddin Erkinboev (75 kg) overpowered Turkey’s Sultan Osmanli with a commanding 5:0 win, advancing to the quarterfinals.

In the final bout of the day, Jahongir Zakirov, competing in the super heavyweight category (+90 kg), convincingly defeated Germany’s Nikita Putilov, sealing the match with a 5:0 score.
