Serious Environmental Violations Found at AGMK
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During raid inspections conducted by the State Inspectorate for Environmental Control under the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change in the Tashkent region, violations were identified at JSC Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex.
The inspection revealed that hazardous industrial waste is being illegally stored in open areas, adversely affecting the condition of the soil and groundwater.
At the ore management treatment facilities in the city of Angren, wastewater is not being treated effectively due to worn-out equipment; as a result, the water essentially turns into waste and is discharged into the Angren River.
In connection with the identified violations, the enterprise has been assessed an additional compensation penalty in the amount of 48 billion soums.
Furthermore, mandatory instructions consisting of 20 points were issued, aimed at eliminating the violations and ensuring compliance with environmental standards.
